ASSET SOLOGUARD® is the only safety barrier for carriageway crossover points allowing opening and closing by two operatives within 5 minutes.

Current systems in use, such as demountable wire ropes or corrugated and box beam barriers, need specialist safety barrier crews to open and close them. Taking up to 4 or 5 hours, these systems are costly operations.

ASSET SOLOGUARD® is instantly moveable, allowing the flow of traffic to be altered quickly and safely, by simply removing 4 securing pins and winding down 4 sets of hidden wheels.

Many emergency crossing points on motorways and trunk roads have SOLOGUARD® installed. Maintenance crossing points at tunnels and bridges around the UK are also protected with this system.

ASSET SOLOGUARD® is part of the ASSET VARIOGUARD® range of products. ASSET SOLOGUARD® can be fitted into existing safety fences using transition units. Maintenance Crossing Points to lengths of 150m and Emergency Crossing Points with 20m lengths can be accommodated.

ASSET SOLOGUARD® can easily be moved, so when crossovers have to be frequently opened and closed, the system can simply be raised off the road using a special jacking device, and wheeled into its new position.

When space is limited, road markings can be applied close to the ASSET SOLOGUARD® base. High quality reflectors fixed onto the posts provide the additional visibility needed for safe guidance at night, or in rainy or foggy conditions.

Asset VRS’s Steel Step System has two variants; Steel Step Corridor (SSC) and Steel Step Barrier (SSB). Both match the profile of Concrete Step Barrier (CSB), in addition, the barrier elements may be provided in both standard (542mm) and wide (942mm) widths.

The Corridor system consists of a rapid opening and closing bi-directional gate, which is suitable for both emergency and maintenance crossing points. It may be installed within CSB profiles, in addition, to use when nested within other extruded and/or precast products.

SSB has the advantage of providing a light-weight H2 W2 solution on structures where the mass of heavier concrete solutions is prohibitive; using anchored units which are 5.45 m each.

Asset VRS can provide a fully installed system, or installation training, both of which comply with the National Highways Sector Scheme 2B (for the Supply, Installation, Maintenance and Repair of Vehicle Restraint Systems) and comply with clause 401.5 (MCHW) with a design life exceeding 20 years (subject to environmental extremes).

Steel Step Installation

Supplied and installed by ASSET, the system enables easy opening in different configurations.

By removing locking pins at either end of the barrier, the Steel Step System can either pivot from each end or be relocated laterally, thus exposing the full opening.

Maintenance training in use of the system is provided by ASSET’s in-house training facility.
